Hi, everybody... I'm having so much fun getting ready for your VBS!  Only 2 more days and we're ready to go!  I have a favor to ask, and forgive me if I am out of line, but next year when you video tape the ladies doing the motions in action, could you please have the camera stay in one place instead of going in and out in closeups?  They are certainly pretty ladies, but we need to see the motions they are doing and not their faces up close.  Thank you for all you do to make VBS a wonderful week of learning about Jesus!  I can't wait to see what He brings our kids this year!  There is absolutely nothing better on earth than seeing a child's face when he / she gets it!  It's great to see the light go on!!

Sorry you are having difficulties with that. I suggest trying from a different computer or using a different browser and see if that works. There may be some setting on your computer that is causing it to try and open the files using QuickTime.

Yes, if you bought the kit, then you may use the music and logo.

BUT don't overwork!

First, look in your kit for the CD-ROM in Beach Decor and More. This contains lots of logos, clip art, etc. all ready for you to use. There are also downloadable clip art pieces and music samples on the myvbsparty.com site.

AND you might want to check here on this forum or on myvbsparty.com for Chad Pace's already complete VBS website customizable for your church! It contains everything you are asking for! You might discover that a lot of the work you're anticipating has already been done for you!

Linda, there are forms galore in the Director's Planning Pack--check out the CDROM (I believe it is in folder B but can't verify that at the moment!). 

ALSO, check out the website that Chad Pace created for any GL user of SonSurf...look through the posts here for the link. He has lots of forms available through that as well, from what I hear!

YES! You can do a Missions center! In fact, if you'll look at your Director's Planning Pack, you'll see that Folder B contains NEW missionary object talks, an article about missions and service projects and also a whole set of missions-related activities! All of these can be used either to create a separate Missions center or can be used as part of activities related to your church's missions project.

 And if you are looking for a missions project, Gospel Light supports onemillionchildren.org. In fact, every time you buy a Gospel Light product, you are supporting the project! But VBS kids often support it as their project, too! 

Jen, it's laid out in centers that kids move through by age group. There are three age levels for the Bible Story Center Guide so that you have the right words for kids of the age you're teaching.

HOWEVER, that being said, it's possible to run it other ways! What are you thinking of doing? We'd be glad to help! And check out myvbsparty.com as well. It's another place to discover more about SonSurf!

I LOVED having all of the verses put to song last year. I even made a calculated risk and changed the way we did one of our activity stations at my home church so that we could use that time to teach kids the song of the day & the explore the meaning of the verse. In the 30-some years we've done VBS, I don't think we've EVER "done it this way before" - and you know what kind of backlash can come from changing things up, right?  A few of my helpers seemed skeptical at first, but by the end of the week the group guides & leaders were very happy with how it had gone.

I did find the actions a bit challenging though. I like the actions because they help the kids memorize the verse. It would just be nice if they were a bit more simple - not so many actions for each song.

Having said this, Gospel Light has also given us some great songs that teach Bible truth without directly quoting scripture. SonRock's "I'm Keeping My Eyes On Jesus" has seen me through a few personal storms in the past two years, so I'd say it's every bit as valuable as the Bible verse songs because it reminds me of the truth that, "when I start to fall, He helps me to stand".

Just keep the songs simple & short so they're easy to memorize, focused on the truths found in Scripture, and not too many actions.
