Our Snacks for each session:

1. Go Fishing

Pocky stick biscuits, tied to gummy strings, tied to mini fish biscuits.

Tie up to story: Peter was a fisherman used nets to fish, here we are using fishing rods to catch our fish.

2. Bear on Boats

Gummy bears (I couldn't find any Teddy Grahams) stuck on apple slices with apricot jam. We couldn't use peanut butter this year because two kids are allergic to peanuts.

Tie up to story: The Bear reminds us of God's protection.  The Boat reminds us of the story of Peter and how he walked on water when he kept his eyes on Jesus.

3. Mousse or Moose?

We used apricot jam as glue.  We 'glue' a small biscuit to a larger one, with choc cereal for eyes and pretzels for antlers.

Tie up to story: The Moose makes a loud sound that can be heard very far away.  We are reminded that when we believe in Jesus, we can also tell people about it like a moose making that loud sound.

4. Fire Eating or Eating Fire?

I had an electric mixer in front where the kids can see me pouring in the cream and icing sugar to make a whip cream.  The kids then break the Pocky sticks to make 'firewood' on their plates, while I added in vanilla essence and orange colouring to the whip cream.  When the kids are ready, I put a dollop of whip cream on the sticks to look like a campfire.

Tie up to story: Peter was by a fire at night when he denied Jesus 3 times.

5. Who? Whoo!

We used a local bread - the roti prata - which is like a round pancake, to make an owl face.  A whole pancake might be too much for the kids, so we halved it, and used bananas for eyes and beak (the banana tips cut into half).  A round cereal made up the pupil.  The banana was 'glued' to the pancake with buttercream frosting, which some of the kids used to make 'feathers' on the pancake.

Tie up to story: The owl symbolises wisdom, and we can be wise in living for Jesus by reading the Bible and 'O'beying it.  We are reminded that both Owls and Obeying begins with O.
