What does everyone think of the SonSurf Beach Bash VBS music from the music clips on the website?

"Everybody Lets Go" is a great theme song for SonSurf Beach Bash and is sure to get kids energized and excited about being at SonSurf Beach Bash VBS 2011!

Three of the five Bible verses are in the songs this year. For those who would like all five, check out Gospel Light's Sunday School music! Primetime contains 1 John 4:9 and Edge contains Matthew 28:19-20!

The songs for this course are so much fun! Let us know what your favorite is just as soon as you get your kit--which should be SOON!!!

How many of you would like to see all five Bible verses in song in VBS each year?

I would like to hear samples of Sonsurf music - do you have that up on your site? I have not been able to find it.

I'm going to ask this again: how many of you would like to see all five Scripture verses set to music? would you use them? Is that too much? Your opinion counts!

(You can also get there from the gospellight.com website by selecting the "Learn More button" next to SonSurf on the VBS page.)

Do you send music CDs home with them when they register?

Did you know that a couple of people already have CD label templates! They are on myvbsparty.com under discussions.

I'll answer your question, Mary

I LOVED having all of the verses put to song last year. I even made a calculated risk and changed the way we did one of our activity stations at my home church so that we could use that time to teach kids the song of the day & the explore the meaning of the verse. In the 30-some years we've done VBS, I don't think we've EVER "done it this way before" - and you know what kind of backlash can come from changing things up, right?  A few of my helpers seemed skeptical at first, but by the end of the week the group guides & leaders were very happy with how it had gone.

I did find the actions a bit challenging though. I like the actions because they help the kids memorize the verse. It would just be nice if they were a bit more simple - not so many actions for each song.

Having said this, Gospel Light has also given us some great songs that teach Bible truth without directly quoting scripture. SonRock's "I'm Keeping My Eyes On Jesus" has seen me through a few personal storms in the past two years, so I'd say it's every bit as valuable as the Bible verse songs because it reminds me of the truth that, "when I start to fall, He helps me to stand".

Just keep the songs simple & short so they're easy to memorize, focused on the truths found in Scripture, and not too many actions.

Mary,

I would love to see all the bible verses in the songs.  We always make sure the children memorize these songs...great way to learn their verses!  Thank you for all you do

Wouldn't it be a fun project to set most of the Bible to music!? And then put it out in Bible order so people could sing and remember whatever part they wanted!
