Just heard from a friend about her church's amazing VBS last summer: they chose to bless a local church plant (a renewal of a declining church) with their VBS materials/decorations...and went the extra mile, sending people there to teach and to bring in kids! This little church (which had few children) had a VBS of 80 kids from the neighborhood! This year, they're doing it again!

THIS is the time to plan for "second mile" ministry with your VBS decorations, extra items. Let's invite God to show us who we can bless and go the second mile with this summer!

Second Mile Ministry for your Church!

Reposting this, in case you didn't see it. Check out FB for more on this topic. So glad that many of you recycle your decorations with another church but we'd also like to hear from more who are doing what you read here!

So, what is the best idea you've had so far for your VBS?

about the "recycling" of decorations, etc. --we are able to recycle them three times, just by planning ahead with other churches when we're doing our VBS! This really makes it possible to buy some of the bigger ticket items like the stage cubes...only a third of the price is what we pay!

On facebook, there are people talking about donating their VBS decorations/extras/leftover to the churches that were hit by the recent tornadoes...and maybe sending a team to put it on! What do you think?

Awesome idea! There is a list started on facebook in discussions where users are posting their locations so they can share decorations, etc. be sure to add your name...hopefully we'll see where people are and who can do what to help the tornado'ed churches as well as each other.

Received a post on Facebook about a church in Mass. that is doing SONQUEST RAINFOREST and then taking it to NYC as a missions trip. Anyone in that area have leftover decorations from last year you could send them?

Addig this information here as well, in case any of you are in the Falmouth, MA area.

Falmouth Baptist Church is offering Sonquest Rainforest this year (2011), both here in Falmouth, Massachusetts and again in Queens Borough New York City, New York on a short-term mission trip.

If anyone has any decorations from Sonquest Rainforest, we sure could use them.  Please contact me at 508-548-3260.  Thank you so much.
