Skits with sound effects are great and really set the scene for the kids. Can we hope to have more sounds this year?

My church got to test SonSurf. The best part in the Skits was the surfboard routine our Pastor Dave and Pastor Josh did to the Song Wipe Out. It was hysterical! I love how the kids respond to live actors. They are real people the kids know.It is so great for building community between the different age groups.

Have you looked at the SKITS DVD yet? What do you think of them?

I'm wondering if anyone has seen the skits DVD yet. Looking for your reaction. Does your church do skits live?

are the skits meant to be watched every day or just to show people how to do the acting?

You can use them either way. They're not too long--a kid friendly length, so if you didn't have anyone to do the skits at your church, you could use it.But kids really do love to see people they know playing the parts!

If you've already bought the VBS kit, then you should have an Epic Assemblies and Skits book. You'll find all of the skits (and LOTS of other things, including the closing program) right inside!

And you can always use the DR. COOL videos --or the two-person DUDE sketches in the Assemblies Guide--to give kids a handle on the daily action if you don't do the skits!

LOL! Those Dr. Cool videos are pretty funny! but the DUDE sketches in the Assembly time teach kids a motion for the Daily Action, so it should be really fun to just do that motion all day to each other!

If you use the DUDE sketches, you might want to incorporate him into your closing program, too--along with his motions! It's an easy way to get the rest of the family who didn't go to VBS interacting during the program!

There is mention of puppet skits, but I don't see a script anywhere. Am I just overlooking it?

If you are looking for puppet skits, there are short ones for Sandy the Harbor Seal in the Sandcastle Shores (preschool) Teachers' Guide. However, we do not have puppet skits for the elementary age. In the back of the Epic Assemblies Guide, you'll find Bible Story Skits...which puppets could do, if you'd like! And of course, you could have puppets do the daily skits in the FRONT of the Epic Assemblies Guide!

We are doing our VBS this week, began on Mon. July 11th.  Our staff is made up of volunteers ranging in age from 12 - 78 years.  Our children are 4 - 12.  We have used your VBS materials for the last 3 years, but this year is more difficult than others.  At this point in time our actors are not impressed with the skits for Son Surf Beach Bash.  They usually have a lot of fun with skits and are a big part of our opening each morning.  Actors are following the script.  They have found that the children don't understand what is going on and one 5 year old asked them what they were trying to do.  They told him they were trying to be funny - his reply - you're not.  Some of the actors are teens, others adults.  Our minister has been doing the Bible stories and finds them difficult to explain as well.  They are enjoying snack, crafts and games time, but appear bored during other times.  Most of the children have come other years, other than 4 year olds.  Our methods of teaching have worked before, but not this time.  Maybe we should have used the video instead of live actors, but we feel actors are usually better suited to our group of small town children, who have not likely ever seen a surf board.  This year we have 57 children registered, similar to other years and traditionally it is also the hottest week of the summer.

I purchased the Epic Assembly Guide CD-Rom. I haven't opened it yet. Can someone tell me if this is the one that has live skits on it or is it only intended to teach the skits. I'm panicking a little because our VBS starts tomorrow and I'm just now thinking we purchased the wrong Epic Assembly. Should I have purchased the DVD or are the skits on the CD-rom as well?

Thank you!
